이 프로젝트는 4인치 연마 디스크를 코스터로 써보자는 생각에서 시작되었습니다.

4인치 연마 디스크는 회전하며 면을 갈아내거나 광을 내는 작업에 사용되는 공구입니다. 다양한 종류의 디스크들은 그 용도에 따라서 다른 질감을 가지고 있으며 거침의 정도를 구분하기위해 다른 색을 갖습니다. 이로인해 이들은 서로 다른 재질, 색, 형태를 가지고있어 시각적으로 흥미로운 고유의 모습들을 갖게되었고, 총 14가지의 디스크를 활용하여 개성있는 코스터들을 만들었습니다.

14가지의 코스터들은 그 생김새 만큼 다른 촉감을 갖고있어 코스터의 종류에 따라서, 또 어떠한 컵을 사용하는가에 따라서 사용자는 다른 경험을 하게 됩니다.

코스터들은 직경 4인치의 원반 가운데 구멍이 있는 도넛모양을 하고있어 거치대에 쌓아 보관 할수 있습니다. 뚜껑과 받침 또한 연마디스크와 연마석으로 만들어진 두가지 크기의 거치대는 여러가지 코스터들을 보관하고 활용하는데 재미를 더합니다. 

사용자는 이를 활용해 거치대에 각각 다른 코스터들을 조합하여 쌓거나 같은 코스터들을 연속으로 쌓아 자신만의 세트를 완성할 수 있습니다.

This project began with an idea of using a 4-inch abrasive disc as a coaster.

An abrasive disc is a tool that is used for grinding and/or polishing virtually any surface. There are many types of discs that have different textures depending on their application, while having various colors to differentiate its roughness. As a result, each individual coaster has a unique appearance which resulted in the making of 14 uncommon coasters.

In addition to their respective appearance, the 14 coasters possess a different tactile sensation in order to engage the user and allow a different experience depending on the type of coaster and type of cup used.

These coasters have holes in the middle made up of a 4-inch diameter disk, similar to a doughnut, and can be stacked on top of one another on a rack. The rack comes in two size options. Its lid and bottom pad are made up of abrasives similar to the coasters which it holds. The rack creates an enjoyable detail when storing the various coasters.

Users can build their own coaster set by combining different types of coasters and/or stacking the same coasters in a series.
